FIELD DAY : UX/UI

Ottawa, my hometown, has always been a government town. There’s nothing to explore, bland restaurants, and the population growth occurs in the exburbs where cookie-cutter houses and chain stores rule. Refusing to accept Ottawa as ”the city that fun forgot”, I designed a conceptual app that aggregated local event information from multiple sources to encourage random afternoons and novel social intersections between strangers.

MY ROLE:

  • Created the branding

  • Created the UX/UI design

  • Animated a short promotional video in After Effects

THE CONCEPT

Field day : the end of the school year when the weather gets warm and summer approaches.

The app pulls event information from social media and local online event aggregators to form its database.

It synchronizes with your phone’s calendar to notify you of upcoming events.

Linking to social media allows users to advertise their event through vast pre-existing social networks. Hosts can invite more participants to their event by “pinging” other users.

Field Day allows users to discover new local events everyday. New events can spark new beginnings by fostering unexpected networks within the community. With a broad range of activities, the app appeals to the uniqueness of individuals from diverse skills and backgrounds.
